the burning of Health
Last night, as every year here in Spain, it was the eve of San Juan . For the uninitiated is the festival that brings together two of the most radical manifestations of tamarraggine Global New Years and the beach.
Imagine the last night of the year, but with a warm Executioner and the beach a few steps. Here, we're close. The English (as the stereotype) do not celebrate the end of the year, but the arrival of summer. They do it two days late, all on the beach, in costume, shooting firecrackers, under the influence of emmediemmea, dancing in an anomic chiringuito up at six in the morning (at six must leave the beach, say the speakers, because they come to clean it). So far, nothing earth-shattering, actually - if we do not consider transcendental our latest discovery: the spacciadore of mdma with hair of demomorselli and the hat-shaped birthday cake , soon renamed emmediemomorselli (which of course as Fatton by all accounts the next morning ... not funny)
Back on the piece. The solstice, as the end of the year, is a pagan rite. In fact, if we end the year we throw old stuff out of the window (calendars, clothing, in some cases radical even the toilet bowl), the Spaniards are not inferior: they organize huge pyres on the beach (in some cases even in the middle of the road) and burn the stuff in winter.
Here, last night, not to be outdone, I got rid of the worst nightmare of my winter Catalan. My card CATSALUT (the way that God has to tell you that your life is in his hands, and I quote the words of asha) is over the flames of the first Hoguera we met on the beach.
With her are gone in no particular order and without regret:
four hours waiting to emergency surgery on a Saturday afternoon for me to mend the leg left (poor things the doctors were at lunch);
three months of pilgrimage for me to diagnose a slipped disc ("face six months in the pool, come back and see what has happened");
gastroenteritis Asha then two days after it was appendicitis and thus has been transformed in peritonitis (eighteen hours to make an X-ray and blood tests and then decide to make an emergency);
wait fourteen hours to know that the fever of asha, no appendicitis was not a trail (even then wait forever for an ultrasound and blood tests);
